FLOODS.

i thought my next blog post would be after i graduated (oh i know, i talk about it way too often... the joy of nervosity!) but i really need to blog now i think.
the rain is crazy.
water is everywhere.
check these pictures from moravia:

they had to close up a few very frequent streets in ostrava that join different parts of this city. because of the water. cars cannot get through it. we haven't had so much rain here in many years. police and fire men had to look after the rivers through the night as well. some of the homes in ostrava have been evacuated now.
it's scary.
this is a picture from our church, taken yesterday afternoon.
it's of our club room.

yesterday i went for a walk with my dog and i took him down the hill (oh yes i live up at the top of the hladnov hill which is cool cause no flood here.) and we went down to see the river... it was crazy. it actually made me sad! normally, it's beautiful. people walk right next to it, i run there every night... this time i looked down from the bridge and it was brown, branches were floating in it and the grass people walk and i run on, it was just not there... see here:

i was just thinking...
even after the volcanic eruption i was thinking...
how crazy it is...
that some people just dress nice and shop.
others buy expensive cars, build houses, try to earn as much money as they can in their lives...
and why.
so God can shake this planet just a little bit and everyone panics?
God shook the earth up... iceland, floods, earthquakes...
and people are scared.
they realize why would they need skyscrapers now.
or pretty clothes. or millions.
if God can take it away in a moment...

he changed this world in one moment. the moment when Jesus Christ was born.
so the next time you say, "wait a moment..." think about how everything could change in that one moment.
God is bigger.
much bigger.

"My soul finds rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress,
I will never be shaken."
Psalm 62:1-2

  1. Wowsers! That reminds me of the terrible floods in Czech several years ago... I hope nothing like that happens again.

    Great words Petra!
